page 1 message from the pastor--September 5, 2010
Dear friends of Buffalo United Methodist Church,
The new school year--and new Sunday School/Bible Study year--begins next Sunday on September 12, Christian Education Sunday. We hope to have many stay after worship for a reception, with a study of a favorite Bible passage and some refreshments as we decide on our future course of study. At worship time, we will have a dedication of ALL OF US to the study of the Word of God as found in our Bibles.
During the month of September we also will have the beginning of our end-of-month Youth Pizza/Movie/Game Night Party. Last year we had some good times and we hope to have them again, so invite your friends to a good time! The weekend of September 26th!
In the month of October we look forward to our Homecoming on October 24th and also we look forward to many other fun things--we hope to include so hymn-sing Sundays, a new way to share communion, and many new things to heighten interest and excitement...but without YOU we can't get anything done!
Your friend and pastor, Rev. Rick Waller
YOU ARE IN OUR PRAYERS!
We are a church based in prayer for all of God's children and hope you can find a moment in your lives to pray for us as we continue ministries this spring.
We hope that we can join together, with each other and any guests who would care to come with us, to celebrate many upcoming events in our church life--
and now for the particulars of the church...
We want to welcome all, including former members or visitors, to our Sanctuary on Sunday Mornings at 9:45 AM, to our Sunday School classes at 11:00 AM.
We are located near the center point between Huntington and Charleston, off of I-64 and near the Toyota manufacturing plant (see the directions on our home page). We hope to serve a growing community and look forward to welcoming many to this part of Putnam County, one of the fastest-growing, expanding counties in our state.
We feature traditional worship experiences, with Holy Communion shared the first Sunday of each month. We try to serve our community in many ways-- including free Thanksgiving dinners for the community, service projects for community needs, participation in food ministries for the area, quilting and sewing clubs, United Methodist Women, community involvement in ecumenical events at holiday times (Christmas and Easter), and most important, a church community that is warm and friendly.
We hope to see you soon!
